In October 2015 whilst on a leadership training trip to Zimbabwe, I visited Chiwundura Secondary School, where I discovered that many of the pupils were walking as much as 20km to school and 20km back home again every day.
I was determined to do something about it and in February 2016, we launched the 20/20 Campaign - 20 bicycles to cover 20km.
Almost immediately people began to respond and money started coming in. We embarked on a fundraising drive which saw us host our first Charity Golf Day.
By the end of May, we had reached our target of £1,500 - enough to buy 20 brand new mountain bikes in Zimbabwe!
This is making a positive difference to their schooling experience and life in general. The results across the board were all very positive so we want to provide more bicycles so that more children’s lives can be improved in this way.
